Memory Garden Benches offers a wide variety of beautiful powder coating colors which are professionally applied. Along with solid color powders, many powders have color pigments which create a variety of looks such as granite, rivers and leatherettes. Keep in mind that the placement of your bench and its surrounding area play a big role in selecting colors. Please contact us for assistance in determining the best color choices for your bench. Color samples will be sent to you for your review.
CUSTOM RAL COLORS
Custom powder coating colors using your RAL formulas can be created upon request. RAL colors enable you to color coordinate your bench with its surroundings, or to have it prepared to match existing colors of any building or other feature, or to be in the chosen colors of your college, university, school or business. WHAT POWDER COATING IS
Power coating is a process in which two layers of a protective coating are baked on your bench to give it long lasting protection against rust, abrasion and chemicals. (For instance, a bench outdoors at Lincoln City, right on the Oregon coast, didn’t show any wear after two years!)
All benches have an "orange peel" texture to the finish which makes them a pleasure to touch besides modulating the light to enhance their beauty. We also find powder coating to be very effective in insulating benches against excessive heat buildup in sunny locations.
The powder coating process involves sand blasting each bench to bare metal to remove surface impurities and open the pours of the steel. The bench is then charged with 35,000 volts of electricity, and a prime coat of powder coating is electrostatically applied and baked at 400 degrees. This baking turns the powder to liquid and the powder actually becomes part of the steel of the bench. After this, the bench is charged with 35,000 volts of electricity, and the second coat (your bench color) is electrostatically applied and then baked at 400 degrees.
This process is not merely putting paint on your bench or dipping it in a chemical. Instead, powder coating is a technologically sophisticated process which produces an extraordinarily durable and beautiful protective coating which even under the stresses of a harsh climate is designed to protect your bench for many years.
