DONOR BENCH PROGRAM
What is the "Donor Bench Program"?
Briefly explained, under what we call the "Donor Bench Program", people donate funds to a public entity (such as a non-profit organization, parks, cities, etc.) which then orders or purchases the bench from us. The donor gets an income tax deduction and the public entity gets a free bench! We have the bench fabricated, usually with a bronze plaque on top recognizing the donor and anyone the donor wants to have remembered in this permanent way. Memory benches provide eye catching accents wherever they are placed and help build the donor’s community sense of belonging.
Why would someone want to donate a bench?
There are many reasons benches are donated. Often it is in memory or recognition of a loved one. Other times it may be a group project initiated to beautify a particular area of the city, such as a park. The placement of the bench is determined between the donor and the recipient. Businesses too can receive benefits by bench donations, resulting in long term advertising as shown by the inscriptions on the attached bronze plaques.
What kinds of designs are available?
We have many existing designs that reflect the beauty of America’s landscape, patriotism and cultural diversity. We also regularly make custom designs when a specific theme is desired by the entity or bench recipient, enabling the donor to choose from a number of designs and colors. All benches, of course, are designed for Beauty, Comfort and Durability!
Does the Donor Bench Program really work?
The Donor program has proven to be very successful for both cities and non-profit organizations. For example, the City of Grants Pass, Oregon, initiated their Donor Bench Program several years ago and since then has had many benches donated for downtown beautification and in public parks, with the intent of promoting tourism for the community. The City bought the first bench, and then publicized the purchased bench and the existence of the program. Another example is a very popular non-profit animal rescue organization called Wildlife Images. In this instance Wildlife had a need for benches on their ever expanding facility. They also had an ongoing need to raise funds for their continued support and maintenance. We set them up with a Donor Bench Program which included a series of custom designs depicting the wildlife with which they work. Not only does the facility receive free benches, but since the charge to the donor is greater than the cost of the bench, Wildlife receives a generous cash donation with each bench.
